Why is Making a Donor Call so Scary? Instead, Remember the Joy

I’ve conducted a couple of Major Donor Cultivation training sessions recently and was reminded of the best part of fundraising. I always begin my training sessions with a question, “How did you feel the last time you gave more money or more time than might have been reasonable?” “Did you feel angry or sad?” Inevitably, people in the sessions agree they felt joyful, useful, meaningful, or proud.

So, when talking to a prospective donor to a cause you support, Remember the Joy, and the call won’t seem so scary!
