Writing a proposal isn’t just about the rules

Writing a foundation proposal can seem an easy way to raise money. “If I follow all the rules, they’re sure to fund us. We deserve it.” But foundations are run by people with all the preferences, dislikes, and quirks that people have. Not following the rules is an easy way to get eliminated, but crafting and then writing a compelling proposal takes creativity, persistence, and succinct writing.
