Braniff Airways Foundation
The Braniff Airways Foundation recently received a $30,000 gift from the Eugene McDermott Foundation! The funds are to support Braniff’s efforts to protect, preserve, and promote Braniff’s history and legacy. Colorful, fun, innovative, and design and fashion-forward – Braniff mirrored the hard-charging business, glamour, and extravagance of its hometown, Dallas.
Braniff Airways Foundation preserves the history of a crucial part of Texas’s history: its past and present as an aviation hub. Braniff altered Dallas’s economic and cultural landscapes, attracting more than 9,000 employees to live and work in the region. Its presence allowed Dallas to become nationally and internationally associated with the airline industry and innovation. Moreover, aviation offered Texans rapid transportation to commercial centers on both coasts and internationally; enabling business travel options that benefitted the local agricultural, oil, and other industries.
