Sometimes TV time is a disappointment for clients, the “my story is worth more time” syndrome. But, 60 seconds on a major regional network news show is still a big deal and not easy to come by. The Vision Forum’s recent No-Hate event was covered by WFAA, http://www.wfaa.com/community/Hundreds-say-no-to-hate-in-Dallas-131964418.html. The original spot was 60-seconds. [...]
The Vision Forum’s No-Hate event was featured in The Dallas Morning New’s NeighborsGo section. If you want a feature, you’d better be able to write it!

My many years of torturously boring Sunday School lessons made this story a joy to write, “Sunday School Isn’t What It Used to Be” on NeighborsGo.com, www.neighborsgo.com/index.php?page_id=1000&site_page_id=5&post_id=70628
Mike Tamez, sportscaster for Station NTRB of Reading & Radio Resource, is featured in a front page Metro story for The Dallas Morning News. There’s also a video of Mike, who’s been blind since the age of 4, talking about his show, Mike Tamez of The Sports Section.

Sometimes the best PR comes from an unexpected source – a helpful, well-informed, friendly parking lot attendant! I was on a business call with a client last week in Fort Worth. The day was chillier than I expected, and I had returned to the car for my sweater. The parking lot attendant [...]
My son’s teacher recently told me that my son’s ability to “think with words” was outstanding. My knee-jerk immediate thought was “How else would one think but with words?” But there are several ways to think – spatially like engineers and architects, visually like painters, aurally like musicians, emotionally like most of [...]
Lazy Sunday afternoons in July aren’t usually the site of something exciting, but last Sunday I spent three hours with a group of marketing professionals gathered to develop a Marketing Strategy. This wasn’t any old marketing strategy, but one calculated to change the way of doing business for one of my clients, Reading & [...]
Coordinating a photographer with your story idea or event can be key to receiving coverage in the media. Good pictures help tell the story and interest the readers.
Hire a photographer if you can. If not, recruit a volunteer, or learn how to take decent pictures yourself.
Don’t forget that columnists or short highlight sections are often the most read in a publication. They usually include a photo, too.
I do sports, too. As a girl, I lived in West Texas where football is King, so football is ingrained in my soul. I still have my Rankin Red Devils memorabilia.
Fashion magazines, design magazines, neighborhood papers, even business papers can spotlight your cultural event or art gallery. I’m always on the hunt for new publications or websites. PaperCity Dallas, Modern Luxury Dallas, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Dallas Morning News – Guide, and the Dallas Business Journal are featured here.
Beautiful images are everything when working with artists and art galleries. A professional photographer knows how to shoot artwork to look its best. Lighting and a professional “eye” can mean the difference between a photo that enhances the artwork and a photo that is “just a photo.” The sculpture of Michael O’Keefe, photographed by [...]
Women business owners have unique stories to tell. Working with the National Association of Women Business Owners – Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter, I’ve helped turn the spotlight on a few. These women’s photos and stories are featured in the Dallas Business Journal, Plano Insider, and Fort Worth Business Press.
Sometimes a story is of interest to both general media and a more specific market media. A media plan needs to reach both potential audiences. When Nobel Peace Prize Winner Archbishop Tutu visited The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration from his home in South Africa, predominantly African-American papers were invited to all the [...]
Dallas/Fort Worth House & Home asked if I could submit tips for buying art. One of my tips was to consider buying art that speaks directly to you. As an example I used a painting by one of the artists represented by client Norwood Flynn Gallery, Ray-Mel Cornelius.
So, I promoted Miller Consulting, [...]
